Branch joints CCB 3:1
HIL-SHRINK® branch joints are used to protectively enclose cable branching points. HILPRESS offers CCB branch joints with a 3:1 shrink ratio for two, three or four branches. The black, thick-wall designs are made from radiation-crosslinked polyolefin, are flame-retardant and feature an internal hot melt adhesive coating.

HIL-SHRINK® branch joints for branched cable harnesses
Branch joints are used wherever a cable or cable harness splits into several cable routes and the transition area needs to be protectively enclosed. Their special design consists of a main cap with several individual branch outlets that adapt to the respective cable diameters when heated.
HILPRESS offers HIL-SHRINK® CCB 3:1 branch joints with two, three or four branches. This allows the branch joint to be selected according to the number of cable routes leading out of the main cable harness.
Branch joints protectively cover the branching area. They do not establish an electrical connection between conductors themselves.
3:1 shrink ratio for different cable diameters
HIL-SHRINK® CCB branch joints have a 3:1 shrink ratio. When heated, the diameter of the branch joint and its individual branch outlets is reduced, allowing the shape to adapt to the inserted cables or cable harnesses.
For selection, both the supplied dimensions and the maximum dimensions after complete shrinking are important. HILPRESS specifies separate values for the main cap and the individual branch outlets.
Depending on the version, the available dimensions range from compact branch joints for smaller cable diameters to significantly larger designs. The product filters in the HILPRESS online shop allow you to select the appropriate product based on the diameters before and after shrinking.
Radiation-crosslinked polyolefin with hot melt adhesive
HIL-SHRINK® branch joints are made from radiation-crosslinked polyolefin. The designs are thick-wall, semi-rigid and flame-retardant. An internal hot melt adhesive coating is provided on the inside.
Shrink temperature above +120 °C
During the shrinking process, the branch joint is heated and conforms to the cable branching point. At the same time, the internal hot melt adhesive reacts to the heat and supports a close-fitting seal around the branching area.
The branch joints are black. HILPRESS specifies a continuous operating temperature range from -30 °C to +70 °C.
To ensure that the HIL-SHRINK® CCB branch joint reaches its intended shape, it must be heated evenly. The specified shrink temperature is above +120 °C. During processing, the heat supply should be controlled and applied evenly so that both the main cap and the individual branch outlets can adapt to the respective cable diameters.
The specific processing instructions and technical data for the selected product should always be followed. The shrink temperature must not be confused with the permissible continuous operating temperature. After processing, the specified continuous operating temperature range is from -30 °C to +70 °C.
Choosing branch joints with 2, 3 or 4 branches
An important selection criterion is the number of cable branches required. HILPRESS offers designs with two, three and four branches.
In addition to the number of branches, the cable diameters must also be taken into account. The following specifications are particularly relevant:
- Minimum diameter of the main cap in the supplied condition
- Maximum diameter of the main cap after complete shrinking
- Minimum diameter of the individual branch outlets in the supplied condition
- Maximum diameter of the branch outlets after complete shrinking
- Length in the supplied condition and after shrinking
The dimensions should be selected so that the branch joint can be positioned over the intended cable arrangement before shrinking and adapts sufficiently to the individual cable areas after shrinking.
